How I Spent my Weekend

This and about five bajillion loads of laundry. I got a little crazy with the dyes, and once I got started I couldn't stop dyeing everything in sight whether it had been rewound for stripes or not. The second from the left was a bit of an accident. It started off with "Oh, look. I have some extra red dye in this here bottle. I'll just use it up and mix it with some other colors." Then, Joe came through the kitchen and I said "Look, honey. I made some really ugly yarn." The next day I overdyed the whole skein with some pink, and now it looks like, well, maybe just maybe someone would want to knit with it. I think it has a kind of pirate theme look to it. Maybe. The rest I am fairly happy with. We'll see how the striping ones look when they're wound into normal-sized skeins.
All of these specimens may eventually be up for sale if I can figure out how and where to sell them. Because I think I'm addicted to this yarn-dyeing thing, and the only way I can sustain the habit is to sell some of it off. Can you tell I'm enjoying a late-night beer? Ayup. It's way past my bed time, but I'm waiting for the dryer to finish so I can shift the laundry around before I go to bed. G'night!

I really like the varigated skeins! I'm finding I'm just not one for stripes, even in my socks, but I really love the depth you can get with mottled color on the skein - and your color choices are beautiful!
Start an etsy account- there's a healthy yarn community on there already. I'm told the mechanics are pretty easy also.
The yarn looks lovely! Dyeing looks (and sounds) so addictive I haven't been game to try it yet myself.
Great colors! I hope you do start selling some. I am terrified that I'll get addicted too, so I have yet to jump into dyeing. It looks like so much fun!
I like the 'mistake' skein alot! Deep purple and pinks my fave! I agree with molly that etsy is probably a good place to sell
I agree with Molly - an etsy account would be simple and easy, if you're not planning super high volume and just want to sell the results of the dyeing spree now and again.
Ooooooo I cannot wait to see your yarn for sale on Etsy!!
Wonder what you will name your shop?
LOL Can you tell I'm a positive thinker?
Good Luck!! Just let us know when and where your yarn will be selling!! :)
Beautiful! I think my favorite is your OOPS skein! (I favor mottled color over stripes, though)
What did you use?
I hope you do start to sell your hand dyed yarn, I want some!! Good job, Shelly!!
The second from the left is the one I like best.
The beer clinched it. You fit in with the rest of us crazys who label their projects one, two, three glasses of wine projects, no alcohol, or just plain idiot knitting when the bottle of Baileys or the six pack got empty a little too early.
You've inspired me my dear! I have my dyes, my yarn, my book on how to make a huge mess in the kitchen, and all the other "stuff" necessary for this project. My honey has even started the eye-rolling due to my "yet another yarn/fiber project". Wish me well and I hope my attempts come out half as beautiful as yours. And oh, I'll take the "ugly" skein anytime you wish to get it off your hands!
Hi,Hope all is well with you, and your family. I have really missed your posting this week. Your blog is in my top 3 favorites!
