I still worry about mine on their 1st day of school and expect a full report every year. Needless to say the teenage boy is a little tired of me.

When I dropped my little one off for her first day of school last year I came home and cried and consoled myself by making photo collages of her. This year I am far better prepared - I have realoy good chocolate to keep me company! Thanks to your other commenters for reminding me to get out the camera tomorrow!

heathers

Julie looks so happy. I know this is bittersweet, I have felt much the same way sending Grant off to high school. I agree with previous comments, keep taking those pictures. My kids like to look back and see themselves as they have grown. Love the pants, I may have to make a pair for my great nephews.

I agree that feeling will never leave you it will be there even when they go off to high school, sniff sniff. I always look back at the first day of school each year as the kids get ready and remember kindergarten, my oldest boy I cried and cried as he got on the bus and had a video camera but it didnt work, however I used it to cover my face and tears so he wouldn't seem me. My middle was the toughest he didnt want to leave me and his shoulders just were going up and down as he cried and cried on his walk down that long walkway to class. He was clutching a picture of the family in his hand. My little girl, she smiled and skipped to kindergarten and have loved it since!! ((Hugs))

Karyn

Awww . . . she looks so cute on the school bus! I can only imagine how you must feel (no kids here).

Good luck with the second pants! I admire your perseverance!

Yes, keep taking those pictures. We moved into this house when DS started 1st grade, and the tradition of the "picture on the staircase" began. Now he is just about as tall as me! I have them hold up their fingers according to what grade they are begining. It will be fun to look back on each picture one day.

Just dropped DD9 and DS12 off for their first day.
It's oddly silent in the house. Well, until 12:30 when I pick them up. Tomorrow it's a full day.

That feeling doesn't end. I felt that way yesterday as I dropped off my 10th grader at school for her first day. Keep taking those 'first day of school' photos - every year. They are great to look back on.
At least you didn't get in your car and follow the bus to school like I did when my son started kindergarten.
