My Husband is So Cute

Yes, we know that Joe is physically cute.

But does everybody know what a video-game addict he is? He is a huge video game addict. And I'm not complaining. We are a perfect fit for each other because he likes to spend his evenings playing video games, I like to spend mine watching DVDs and knitting. We both respect each others' choices in how we spend our free time and our fun money. Heck, I bought him components for a new computer for his birthday so he could have the gaming machine he wanted.

Ever since the Wii came out, Joe has adamantly said "I don't want one. I don't need one. Maybe eventually." Even when I've offered one as a gift for a holiday. Until a couple weeks ago. Suddenly, he decided that he *needs* one. And when he *needs* something, he becomes obsessed with it. He needs it *right now*!

And of course, the Wiis are kind of hard to find right now. And to Joe it feels like he will never get one - the other day he was talking about paying big bucks on e-bay for one. I kind of quashed that idea - my neighbor says that the local stores are getting regular shipments in and that you can call around to see if they have them in stock. Well, he saw an ad in a store flyer from the newspaper this morning, and he got all excited "they wouldn't be advertising them if they weren't getting some in the store. I better go right now!"

Okay, I said. But I have to work later, and I need to get in the shower. No problem, he said. I'll take the girls with me. They love going on errands with Daddy, so ten minutes later they were all out the door and here I sit in a blissfully empty house for the first time since that day that I was house-cleaning before Christmas.

I hope for Joe's sake that he gets his Wii. I love watching him with a new toy, all excited. And to be honest, I think I may play with it some too. The game that finally got him ready to buy the Wii is coming out next month I think. It's Wii Fit, and I think I could benefit from it too. I like video games, I just 1) am not very good at them and 2) would rather be doing something productive. Flying Hamsters notwithstanding (thanks a lot Yarn Harlot!) But this Wii Fit game sounds like it would be somewhat productive in the getting-some-exercise sense.

Just so nobody thinks I'm being too hard on Joe, this whole scenario reminds me of my own recent obsession and splurge...

Now gotta go take a shower and get ready to teach!

I hope he gets it! All of us have been enjoying the Wii we got for Christmas. Also check out this tips page for what you'll need with the Wii.

My favourite game is Bust a Move, and my husband's is Tiger Woods golf. We'll probably be getting the Wii fit when it comes out, because it looks pretty cool. (I'm riding my recumbent bike for 20-30 minutes a day while playing the Wii.)

We love our Wii. I'm terrible at video games in general as well but the Wii is so different that I can play it with some success. Hope he finds one!

I went through this last November, trying to get one for christmas for the boys. We went out one day and asked at Target, Walmart & all the local game stores. Most employees we talked to just shrugged and said, we don't know when they'll be in. But one nice guy at Game Stop told us when they were going to get some more in. Some stores also have waitlists you can get on. Good luck to Joe!

I love my Wii!! I bet both of you will love it too - people who like video games enjoy it, but those who normally aren't very into video games (like my mom) really like it too.

If Joe is not succesful, try Wii Alert (google it). You can sign up for it to send you a text message whenever a store gets some in, and then rush over there and get one. It has worked for us to get several Wii games that were hard to find.

I hope Joe gets the wii! We got one as a family Chirstmas present and we all love it. I am not a video game person and I even thought it looked fun and it is! We play the sports all the time; the bowling and golf are really fun. The other games are more fun on the wii just because of how it is designed, in my opinion. You'll love it:)

Oh yes we are still waiting on shipments here so we can get our son his belated birthday present. Our nephews have a WII and it is a great workout at the same time, lots of exercise. I think perhaps I will need to indulge too so I can lose some weight and get fitter too.

I hope he is able to get it. We have a lot of fun playing it. My boys are 5 and 3 and both enjoy playing. You definitely have to get the Guitar Hero game, it's a blast!!!

I hope your house has a Wii by now. It is a shame they are still so scarce. I work at a store and the last time we actually had some to sell there were people waiting outside in a blizzard to be first in line and have a chance to buy one. One person was outside the door all night in a tent! Through the help of a friend I managed to get one a year ago, and my kid have just loved it. I also know lots of people who thought they would never enjoy such a thing who think it is a blast. And it does get you up and moving, which can be a good thing.

But you won't neglect your knitting, of course.

It's alot of fun, especially with other people. The sports game that comes with the system is alot of exercise in itself, especially the boxing. The bowling is my favorite though. And collecting stars on Mario Galaxy.

If you are still looking for a Wii there are a couple good sites to check out to track shipments.

iTrackr and This one for GameStop. Just fill in your 5 digit zip in the address bar. It shows their current stock but it's not "up to the minute"

Wiis are exceedingly fun. My boy didn't think he would get one until he played with someone else's. They are the best because literally anyone can play. We have his 89 yo grandmother playing whenever we see her. :) Good luck in your hunt.
