Next year try carving a simple face on your pumpkin just a day or two before Halloween. Then the day after Halloween, before it has a chance to get moldy, cook the pumpkin either in the oven or microwave and let the girls watch the face change as it cooks. Very cool! Our kids did this every year, even in the dorm in college. Then we mashed, strained and used the pumpkin for pumpkin bread and pie. No waste of a perfectly good pumpkin, plus a lot of fun.

Looks like a fun but busy week. :) I will have to try making pumpkin pie from scratch some day. We picked apples this year and will probably be making apple pie this weekend.

The photos are great! The girls look as cute as ever. I have heard the same thing about pumpkin pies from fresh pumpkins, although I have never tried it. I have also heard that just roasting the pumpkin pieces in the oven is the easiest and then you can just scrape the soft flesh from the rind and use "as is" without any further work. Again,
I have not tried that either!! Maybe someday.

It's a wonderful day!

I've been reading your blog for a while now and can't remember if I've commented (forgive me, I've got three little ones!), and I just wanted to say that your family is beautiful!
