Psych!

Sophie and I had been sitting in a room at the doctor's office for the
last 45 minutes waiting for them to come in and tell me my test results.
I was trying to keep her entertained and keep her strapped into the
stroller. If you've ever had to take a small child with you on a trip to
the doctor, you know why.

Suddenly, as I was spinning her around in a game of peek-a-boo, I
realized that the handles of the Maclaren stroller I've been using for
the last five years, always stooping over to reach them, are actually
adjustable.

Oh, and then the doctor came in and told me that the test results came
back mostly normal, and that while they don't know exactly what my
problem is, it's probably not lupus or any other crazy-scary thing like
that. Whew!

Thanks to all of you for thinking happy thoughts for me, and also for
keeping the horror stories to myself. Oh, and thanks to the nice lady
who sent me the e-mail about the mangoes. That's still my favorite
theory.

Ah, dang mangoes! I won’t go near them now. Glad my mango horror story may have helped you out!

Let’s just hope it’s not an allergy to wool and other animal fibers. Though other knitters have had this diagnosis and still been able to carry on with cotton and linen.

    Shelly……..go to a dermatologist!
I had a terrible rash…..doctor tried a bunch of stuff, no results.
Went to a dermatologist who took one look at me and went “OH! You have rosacea”

I hope your mystery rash disappears with no lasting ill effects. I noticed a box labeled “master knitter supplies” in your closet photos. I was wondering if you are doing the Knitting Guild’s master knitting courses? I am working my way through level II but it is difficult to know if I am doing things correctly in spite of my vast pile of resource literature. Blogless Mary Lou

You didn’t know those handles were retractable?

I absolutely agree with Anonymous. I've been dealing with a painful rash on my face since last September, finally went to the doctor last month, and after the second visit to him, went to a Dermatologist. She walked in the room and said "That is some case of Rosacea you have there." She gave me a pill & two creams. That was just this past Monday, and it is already so much better.

What’s the skinny with Mangoes? Glad the tests came back so optimistic, I agree, get thyself to a dermatologist! I love mine!

I thought your rash looked like some type of allergy. What do you take for back pain? That rash looks like the ones I get from Aspirin and Ibuprofen.

I’m the one who said your UNSPUN WOOL stash was reasonable! You do have a lot of yarn. My Mom just moved and when I helped her pack up her old place I kept asking What’s in that box? What’s in that cabinet? What’s up in that closet?” The answer was always “yarn”.

My Mom learned to knit from a Japanese woman who learned from her father. He said many men in Japan knit. I think my mom has been working on knitting something continuously since 1967!

I love my Maclaren stroller – I still have despite the fact that youngest is six. I’m thinking it will be grandchildren someday. I could open it with one hand and pop the kid in and out withe ease – great for public transportation where you can’t keep them in the stroller.

Glad to hear you are feeling more upbeat about the rash.

Funny. I was sending my friend a link to your site so she could look at your blanket. Once I read about your itchy hands/face I thought I’d respond real quick. I have this on my hands every spring. I’ve heard/read that a lot of people get it on their face as well. Now, I’m not a doctor nurse or anything but I’ve always called them sun bumps. I will sometimes get them in the winter if it’s a warm very sunny day and I’m out more. Once my exposed skin get used to the sun again they come and go but nothing like the first exposure in spring. I have a few already now. They itch so bad. Itchier than bug bites. Every year I tell myself to go to the dermatologist but I’ve never made it. Just thought I’d pass on my experience with something very similar.
